Lead Grounds Technician 

Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community (CKV) is currently seeking a dedicated leader to join our grounds team. As a Lead Grounds Technician working at CKV, we will provide you with opportunities to enjoy a friendly work environment guided by Christian values.
 

This opening is for a full-time position working Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Job Description:
 

As a Lead Grounds Technician, your scope of responsibilities will include but is not limited to:

  • Managing of grounds operations and point of contact when Director of Grounds is unavailable.
  • Coordinating with the Director of Grounds to plan work preformed by the Grounds Team. 
  • Supervising and performing work on assigned projects and other duties.
  • Ensure good customer relations and a high department image through personal contact and enforcement of quality standards.
  • Performing landscaping maintenance tasks including; mowing, weeding, edging, mulch installation, pruning, leaf collection, etc.
  • Performing snow and ice removal, garbage and recycling collection, and landscape installations/renovations, as well as Leading the team and operations during weather related events.
  • Helping to oversee, retrieve, and delegate submitted work orders.
  • Applying of herbicides and pesticides to turf, ornamental, and landscape beds. 
  • Occasional maintenance of grounds vehicles and equipment, including trucks, mowers, blowers, trimmers, golf carts, and other power equipment. Preventive maintenance includes oil changes, greasing of parts, blade sharpening, and other minor repairs.
  • Promoting positive attitudes and encouraging growth of team members with hands on training, and feedback.
 

Education and Experience:
 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Valid driver’s license is required. 
  • Experience leading a team in a landscape maintenance setting or related field preferred.
  • Must posses a vast knowledge of ornamental plants, their cultural requirements, growth habits, and related horticultural best management practices. 
  • Pennsylvania applicator certification required in category 6 or 7, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hiring date.
  • Experience and ability to read work related materials, blueprints, etc., and follow directions accordingly.
  • Practical knowledge of all equipment and operation of, and the ability to train employees on proper use of all equipment.
  • Must have basic computer skills that would involve checking emails, calendar appointments/task organization, managing work orders, and various other operations
