Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community (CKV) is currently seeking a Wellness Specialist to support the Mission Point Personal Care and Brookside team. As a Wellness Specialist working at CKV, we will provide you with opportunities to enjoy a friendly work environment guided by Christian values.

 

This opening is for a part-time position, working 20 hours per week, with the ability to work day, evening and weekend hours.

Mission Point Personal Care at Cross Keys Village, more commonly referred to as PC Mission Point is designed for individuals who wish to remain independent when staying at home has become impractical or unsafe. Some of our residents might have limited mobility whereas others might be experiencing various degrees of memory loss. Regardless of their circumstance, Personal Care at CKV actively promotes residents aging in place. Our team members work together to create a more active and purposeful life for our residents, so they can lead healthier and more fulfilled lives.

Brookside Memory Care Residence at Cross Keys village, is a specialized personal care environment for individuals with a diagnosis of neurocognitive disorder or dementia, designed to provide an optimal environment during the intermediate stages of their disease. CKV team members work together to provide Brookside residents with guidance, cueing, the right level of stimulation and interaction with others who understand the progression of their condition.


Job Description:
 

As a Wellness Specialist, your scope of responsibilities will include but is not limited to:
 

  • Assisting with the fitness/wellness operations including facilities, programs, and budget.
  • Assisting in implementing a comprehensive wellness program for CKV--TBHC residents that will improve the resident’s quality of life by incorporating leisure education/planning, treatment plan, Life Engagement and Community Life programing. Implementing a wellness program that is holistic in nature and addresses mind, body, and spirit dimensions, provide a variety of land and water-based programs emphasizing strength, endurance and flexibility.
  • Instructing or scheduling individual/group classes and providing exercise programs for all residents.
  • Stimulating fitness and wellness programs for resident and staff; providing on-going educational opportunities using in-house expertise and community resources for both staff and residents. Integrate wellness principles with other departments to establish wellness applications and a continuum of services.
  • Operating a tracking system to monitor and document program outcomes quarterly. Use as a motivator for increase participation and develop and implementing recognition programs. Maintaining confidentiality regarding all resident/staff information.
 

Education and Experience:
 
  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science or a degree in a related discipline is required. 
  • 3-5 years related experience working with older adults in a Personal Care or Long-term Healthcare setting and implementation of comprehensive wellness and fitness operations.
  • Must possess a valid CPR/AED certification and must maintain a valid CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
  • Must possess the ability to follow and apply exercise norms/protocols established by American College of Sports Medicine.
  • Must possess the ability to instruct, motivate and direct peers, residents and staff.
  • Certification with ACSM, ACE, AFFA or SFA preferred.
  • Maintain certifications by attending seminars and training to keep current of fitness/wellness trend.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communications skills needed including effective public speaking skills.
  • Minimum of computer software experience in Word and Excel, experience with fitness management software preferred.
